The datacentre, server room and control room are the hubs of your business. But you need visibility of these areas and you need control – which is why we propose the Netshield IoT-enabled intelligent gateways for environmental monitoring and control.
By adding a host of IoT sensors to the Netshield NVIROMON-ULTI-1S Intelligent IoT-enabled environmental monitoring and control gateway you can manage and monitor access control, environmental factors, fire hazards, power management and more.
The beauty of this unit is that the intelligence is all built into the device, the sensors gather the information you need and the management layer on the device then controls local events and relays information on these events. It does this via either IoT-based or SNMP protocols to your IoT cloud or on-premise servers for real-time or later analysis.
When developing the NVIROMON-ULTI-1S we wanted to provide customers with a bird’s eye view of their business. Giving you the power of real-time visibility of your environment at all times. This includes letting you control or see even those factors out of your control. How do we achieve this? By adding a multitude of sensors to the gateway, you can monitor more than just who is opening and closing a door.
What can it monitor?
Environmental monitoring on the Netshield NVIROMON-ULTI-1S includes conditions such as temperature, humidity and flooding. With the option to prevent against fire, you can also deploy smoke / heat sensors and controls with a solid-state fire extinguisher in your environment. By setting predetermined parameters for these, the system will intelligently act on your behalf if you aren’t present at the time of an event or disaster.
IoT sensors are more than just internet-enabled gimmicks. When used properly they can provide you with business knowledge and information on your environment. The NVIROMON-ULTI-1S enables intelligent access control, where it monitors and controls multiple door access to your server room or building.
Your admin and security personnel can have full visibility of people trying to gain entry via connected access controllers and video cameras. Because of the intelligence on the unit, these automatically reference connected databases and grant access to individuals based on pre-determined permissions. No permission no access and should an unauthorised person try gain access the system will alert a manager.
The applications are endless, and the unit can also be used in other areas of the business. Notably these include adding chemical, petrochemical, and biometric sensors. The unit can host up to 150 sensors and can be easily expanded should you need to add more, no matter the environment.
A popular feature includes its ability to control and manage the duty or time cycles of the air conditioners, referencing your predetermined temperature controls. As a result, it ensures that the right temperatures are met and that you aren’t unnecessarily running aircons when not needed. With its power monitoring module, you have full control of all power systems, including surge protection, UPSes, generators and energy meters. This allows you to track power and ensure failover kicks in, in the event of the loss of power.
Power in your hands
The real clincher is that the gateway provides full visibility and control of the environment. You never have to close the door on your datacentre and wonder what is happening inside ever again. You set the severity of events and then define a critical, major or trivial alert to each one of these events as well as define how you want the alert delivered, via email or SMS and who exactly they need to be sent to.
Furthermore, because it is a 100% IoT-enabled gateway you can add pods to accommodate wired and/or wireless environmental sensors and because of its intelligence it will respond to alerts and events in a way best suited to your business needs.
